It becomes almost an annual pilgrimage.. Antalya.. Thanks to personal business relations we managed to get ramp access. The reason for visiting AYT every year is clear.. The variety is just stunning, however this year we missed the roaring sounds of the IL86 being replaced by an invasion of Transaero widebodies..., sometimes up to 14 a day!!!
Many Russian carriers have based their fleets and crew in AYT during the summer season which will end by the end of September. Early October the bases are changed to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.
Based carriers for the summer are Nordwind (757/767), I-Fly (757) , Orenburg Airlines (737/Tu154), UT Air ( 757/737-800/400/Tu154) and Skyexpress 737/A319 unfortunately the latter all white..
Photography can be done from the outside as well, but stay low profile as our hobby is not embedded in daily life here. An ideal place to be is the IC Hotel (4star) located at the airport. It has superb facilities, giant pool, fitness, hammam, great rooms, good buffet breakfast and dinner for affordable prices. Dinner i.e. is only EUR10,-- for unlimited access to the buffet.
As from 1400 you can do photography from either your room when facing the pool, or from the terraces located on the 1st or 2nd floor.
Traffic booms as from 1400 until sunset, so you can do your hobby in either your climatised room, the mini bar within reach, or on the terraces and have good views on the approach, the pool, (with many cabin crews relaxing ;-) and when it is getting too hot .. simply have a plunge into the pool.. Great hobby!
As I have shot almost 500 different aircraft, and Sjaak with almost shooting up to 380 pics a day..., I hope you can appreciate that it will take some time to upload all these pictures. So watch this space and let it grow with pictures from both Sjaak Louwen and myself..

Anodolujet operates from Terminal 3 on domestic flights. All types appear.
Atlas Jet can be seen with all types including A330
Enter Air appears with up to 19 daily flights on Wednesdays!!
